State attorney: check. (miracle) Our three attorneys: check. Judge: check. On the cause list to be heard: check. Guess what happened????????? NOTHING. That’s right! NOTHING. The judge didn’t hear the case. There’s nothing to even say!!
Here we are on the cause list for anyone who thinks I’m just a crazy lady making this all up at this point:
SUPPLEMENTARY LIST FOR TODAY IN CONTINUATION OF THE ADVANCE LIST ALREADY CIRCULATED.
END OF BOARD MATTERS 32. FAO 105/2010
ERIN JENNIFER HAWK Vs. STATE AND ANR MOHINDER SINGH
I know that just looks Greek to everyone, but THERE IT IS! This is flipping real and flipping NUTS.
We are flabbergasted. Oh, and apparently our attorneys won’t let Vijay go to any more hearings (including the one today) because she is so incredibly frustrated that they are worried that she will sabotage the case by insisting that the judge hear it and pass a judgement. Our liaison Lisa is so confused as to what advice to give… Should she encourage Vijay to go and risk a hot mess, or possibly at least have representation that would put pressure on the judge to take action? What would you do?
I’m going back to bed. I’m SO SICK of asking our kids if they want us to come get them out of class if we have wonderful news… Give me my bathrobe, I’m going to sleep.
Goodnight, and thanks for listening. Really. I mean it.
With love, E
And one last thing… they will hear the case again on March 6th…. and they “promise” to give a judgement. Zzzzzzzz Wake me when it happens
Asinine. Seriously. The most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.
Don’t they realize you are trying to HELP someone? It isn’t like you are petitioning India to give you $1 million, you know?
You remain a saint.
Hahaha yes, it IS asinine! Thank you for continuing to be such a dear, supportive cheerleader and friend. You rock Kristin!
It will happen. She’s yours.
Thank you so much Jessica! Your support is so very appreciated!
What can I say? This is and has been 100% insane from the beginning. You could not make up a story with less sense. It was on the effing docket and nothing happened!!! March 6 is Jonathan’s birthday. He needs no presents; Urmila is the present he wants YOU to have.
You need to put your head under the covers and sleep for a week. I am just shaking my own head in wonder at the insanity. Is it possible that this is the way everything gets done in India??? It just may be.
You know I love you, Mini.
DD
I love you DD and Dod! I am hoping with all my heart that Jonathan gets the best present ever!!! That would be a wonderful day to have joyful news. It does seem like this is the M.O. in India historically… and perhaps why these huge movements against corruption are surfacing. It’s time to call into light the suffering of the lower castes, women and children, and the disregard for their basic human rights that have been routinely stripped from them throughout the ages. Ok, I’m going off on a tangent now, but at the core of this, this is what it is. NO regard for Urmila’s dire need to be given a family. How any judge can meet a child, hear her plea to come home and then give her the roundabout is pure insanity. Alright, I’m calm down now
xoxxo, Mini
SO FRUSTRATING. I will be praying like mad for March 6 . . . and grinding my teeth in sympathy until you hear good news.
Thank you Nancy, your support and prayers continue to lift us up, and I know that Urmila feels them too! With deep thanks, Erin
Hi Erin
I have been following your blog for the last 4 months, read through all of your posts to get to know your story. I’m absolutely flabbergasted by all the events that have unfolded! We have a daughter from India (with us now for nearly 3 years and 3 1/2 when we picked her up from the orphanage). We were allocated her when she was 2 but it took CARA 45 days to provide the NOC, which by then it was summer and we had to wait for after the court’s summer break to have the papers lodged and then 10 agonising months in the courts before we received our order. We went through 2 postponements then a judge change and then another lengthy postponement and then dealing with a judge who had never done an intercountry process and wasn’t keen to give a guardianship without alot of deliberation and return sessions in the courts. The 13+ months of delays were beyond belief and soooo frustrating! It got to the point that I wanted the time to fly by to get to the all important court dates but also dreaded the dates when they came up because I didn’t want to know what happen because I wanted it to be good news and it never was! I feel your pain but I think yours is so much worse than anything that we went through. All I can say is that our application did go through and when we heard it was so unbelievable! The court papers were produced in 2 weeks and the passport in 10 days following and we were on our way winging it to India on that 10th day … we didn’t even know that her passport was ready when we left Australia, we decided to just go go go … and be with our daughter! I pray for you that this will be the next part of your journey very very soon … to be winging your way to India to be with your daughter. It is time for Urmila to be with her family and time for all of you to hold her in your arms.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Katherine
Thank you for sharing your story Katherine… It really helps to hear about other families’ journeys and the happy endings they have. I guess that patience and faith are the lessons here! We are flattered that you are following Urmila’s journey, and filled with thanks for your encouragement and prayers. Warmly, Erin
I don’t have words…not even one…
Anything I could say at this point seems so frivolous. chin up? It will happen next time? Can’t wait for March 6th? Honestly, I am just plain dumbfounded. I guess that is when you just resort yourself to praying and saying nothing. So that is what I’ll do.
Praying
Julie
Thank you Julie, your kindness and prayers mean so much. It’s true, there’s not much to say at this point, so we’ll just believe and pray that our child will come home soon. With gratitude, Erin
This is insane BS. I really think they don’t want you to adopt her for some reason, and it’s just ridiculous, everyone deserves a family. I think that they think that sooner or later you will give up. I mean this is just insane.
Well, what happened on March 6 ??? Are you on a plane to India, I hope.
